ROSSERK FRIARY WINDOW
Co. Mayo
Item F-102
Rosserk is a comparatively complete
ruin. It was founded in 1460 for Franciscan friars by the Joyce family.
Rosserk was destroyed in 1590 by Sir Richard Bingham, Elizabeth I’s zealous
governor of Connaugh. The bell tower is suspended over the chancel arch, a
feat of architecture more noticeable now that the church is roofless.

Background is a reproduction print from
the artists original pastel of a typical Irish scene (not the actual view
from the window). Prints are not intended to be removed, they are part
of the actual artwork. This is not a picture frame.
