CREEVELEA FRANCISCAN FRIARY WINDOW
Co. Leitrim
Item F-107
Creevelea is on the opposite side of
the beautiful River Bonet from the village of Dromahair, which means ‘the
ridge of the air demons’. It was founded in 1508 by Margaret, wife of Owen
O’Rourke and was the last to be built before the suppression of the
monasteries. The beautifully graceful transept east window is remarkably
still intact. The monastery was probably abandoned at the end of the 17th
century.

Background is a reproduction print from
the artists original pastel of a typical Irish scene (not the actual view
from the window). Prints are not intended to be removed, they are part
of the actual artwork. This is not a picture frame.
