ENNIS ABBEY WINDOW
Co. Mayo
Item F-104
The one-way streets of Ennis still
have a medieval feel to them. Ennis grew up around a friary founded in the
13th century when wandering Franciscans were befriended by the
O’Brien King of Thomund. The abbey stands roofless but the tall tower is
intact. The cloisters and church are rich in medieval carvings.
